Grammy-nominated, 5x Juno-winning, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has released new power anthem “SHUT UP” with rap superstar Big Sean, out now on FMLY / Island Records. This single marks the first collaboration between Toronto’s Reyez and Detroit’s Big Sean and is the perfect display of their unmistakable chemistry. “SHUT UP” is significant of Reyez stepping into her boss era – self-possessed and unapologetically fierce with an audacious flow over an explosive beat. Big Sean’s undeniable cool demeanor is an excellent addition to the song emphasizing the nonplussed attitude of the track.
The new single is bolstered by a sassy and bravado video, directed by Priya Minhas (Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, 6LACK) consistent with what Reyez has embraced in the past – taking charge and asserting her authority in true Gemini fashion. Filled with gradient visuals and special guest appearances, the video begins with Jessie cruising in a vintage Ferrari convertible and features a special cameo from her mom and fan favorite Carmen, followed by a competition with a panel of judges featuring singers JoJo and Nija, actress Inanna, and finally, Big Sean brings his trademark effortless appeal to center stage to cement the dynamic duos undeniable chemistry.
