Eminem is being tipped to headline Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage next year. Emily Eavis, who co-organisers the UK festival has allegedly been trying for some time to get the iconic rapper to play the world-famous music event at Worthy Farm, and finally it’s reported that Shady’s epic comeback means this time there’s a real chance he could be persuaded to top next year’s bill.
Eminem’s recent release “Houdini” shot to No. 1 in its first week on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US chart. The single is from his upcoming 12th studio album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). “Houdini” is also the first song to debut atop Global Excl. US and the US-based Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
Additionally, Eminem scored a second consecutive week at No. 1 with “Houdini” in the UK on Sunday [June 9]. The song could become Eminem’s longest-running chart-topper in the UK.
The music video for the track takes fans back to the “Without Me” promo and sees him relive moments from his iconic 2002 music video alongside guest stars Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Pete Davidson.
The global superstar previously shared news of his new LP as he appeared at the 2024 NFL Draft in his home city of Detroit, Michigan, on April 25. He appeared with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as they began the Annual Player Selection Meeting and a trailer circulated of a fake reporter announcing the death of Eminem’s alter ego Slim Shady.
They said: “Through his complex and often-criticised, tongue-twisting rhymes, the blonde anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”
His rap peer, 50 Cent, said: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”
The reporter continued: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
Earlier this year in March, Dr. Dre confirmed that he has songs on Eminem’s new LP. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he said: “Let me explain something to you right now.
“Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year and I actually talked to him and he said it was OK for me to make that announcement right here on this show.
“He holds his music close to his chest, so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”
