Aneessa ”My musical identity is a blend of jazzy and soulful melodies”

Can you share your musical journey with us, from when you first discovered your passion for music to where you are today as an independent musician?

Aneessa: My musical journey has been a beautiful evolution. I discovered my passion for music at a young age, drawn to its ability to convey emotions and connect with others. I started by singing in school choirs and then ventured into songwriting. Today, as an independent musician, I’ve honed my craft, released my own songs, and connected with an incredible community of music lovers. It’s been a journey of self-discovery and growth.

What motivates you to create music, and how do you stay inspired to continue making new and unique music?

Aneessa: My motivation comes from a deep desire to share stories and emotions through music. Life itself is a wellspring of inspiration, from personal experiences to the world around me. I stay inspired by staying curious, listening to diverse music, and exploring new sounds and ideas. Every day offers a chance to create something unique and meaningful.

As an independent musician, you wear many hats – from composing to marketing. How do you balance these different aspects of your career, and what challenges do you face in the process?

Aneessa: Balancing the various aspects of my career can be challenging. It involves careful planning and time management. One of the main challenges is finding a balance between creative time and promotional activities. But it’s all part of the journey, and I’ve learned to embrace these roles as they come.

Could you tell us about your creative process? How do you come up with new ideas for songs, and how do you go about turning those ideas into finished tracks?

Aneessa: My creative process often starts with a spark of inspiration, which can come from anywhere – a personal experience, a feeling, or even a melody in my head. I jot down lyrics and melodies, and then I collaborate with my talented producer Michael B. Sutton to bring these ideas to life. It’s a collaborative effort that transforms raw ideas into finished tracks.

Independent musicians often face financial challenges. How do you manage your finances to sustain your music career while also covering your personal expenses?

Aneessa: Financial management is a crucial aspect of being an independent musician. I have to be diligent about budgeting and making wise financial decisions. Revenue from music sales, streaming, and gigs helps sustain my music career, and I ensure that I allocate resources for both my career and personal life responsibly.

Can you share a particularly memorable or challenging experience from your journey as a musician that has had a significant impact on your career and personal growth?

Aneessa: One memorable experience was performing at a small, intimate venue. The connection with the audience was incredible and reminded me why I make music. On the flip side, facing self-doubt was challenging. However, overcoming it has been a significant milestone, both in my career and personal growth, teaching me to believe in myself.

With the rise of digital platforms, the music industry has changed significantly. How do you navigate the digital landscape, including streaming services and social media, to promote your music and connect with your audience?

Aneessa: Navigating the digital landscape is essential for today’s musicians. I use streaming services and social media to share my music, connect with fans, and promote my work. These platforms provide a direct link to my audience, helping me build a global fanbase and connect with listeners on a personal level.

Collaboration is a key part of the music industry. Have you worked with other musicians or producers, and how have these collaborations influenced your sound and career?

Aneessa: Collaborations have been a fantastic part of my journey. Working with other musicians and producers has brought fresh perspectives to my music. Their ideas and styles have influenced my sound, making it more diverse and exciting. It’s a wonderful way to keep evolving as an artist.

Your music likely reflects your unique style and perspective. Could you describe your musical identity and what makes your sound stand out in a crowded industry?

Aneessa: My musical identity is a blend of jazzy and soulful melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and a touch of pop elements. What sets me apart is my focus on storytelling and connecting with listeners on an emotional level. I aim to create music that resonates deeply and leaves a lasting impact.

What role does live performance play in your music career, and how do you approach planning and executing your live shows, especially in light of recent challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic?

Aneessa: Live performances are incredibly important. They allow me to connect with my audience in a profound way. Planning and executing live shows require careful preparation, from selecting the right setlist to creating memorable moments on stage. Despite the challenges, I’ve embraced virtual performances and smaller, socially distanced gigs to keep the music alive.

Many fans are interested in the stories behind the songs. Could you share the backstory or inspiration behind one of your recent tracks that holds special meaning to you?

Aneessa: Certainly! “Merci,” one of my recent tracks, is very special. It’s all about gratitude and strength in the face of challenges. The inspiration came from my own experiences of overcoming tough times and learning to say “thank you” for the lessons life has taught me. It’s a song that speaks from my heart.

Looking ahead, what are your future goals and aspirations as an independent musician? Are there any upcoming projects or exciting developments in your career that you’d like to share with your fans and the audience?

Aneessa: I’m excited about the future! My goal is to continue sharing my music with the world and connecting with more listeners. I have some exciting projects in the pipeline, including new songs and collaborations. Stay tuned for more music and heartfelt stories. Thank you for your support!
